The London Borough of Islington commissioned us to undertake a residents survey throughout the Borough to determine how people travelled within the Islington boundaries. On street, face-to-face surveys were conducted and the qualitative research analysed and published. Using the research findings, we created a behaviour change campaign to encourage residents to walk and cycle more within the Borough. “You’re only – two feet away” launched across Islington with outdoor posters, street media, beer mats in local bars, T-shirts and button badges. Regular events captured peoples attention such as the ‘Doctor Bike’ clinics, and ‘Pimp My Bike’ customising workshops. A special ‘Cycle Islington’ street and bike route handbook was also commissioned to support the campaign.
